Myra Hoefner Design, based in California, is about warm and soothing colours, sumptuous fabrics, French furnishings…creating a sense of grandeur and elegance. “It’s fresh and a little bit eccentric. Lots of oversize things. I like big things in small spaces — it’s so dramatic. I love mirrors, which make small spaces look bigger, and I use lots of white. I’m not one for a cluttered look. I think it’s all about comfort.“

One day a couple of months ago I received an email via Flickr from a stylist (Mihaela Radu) who works for the Romanian version of House and Garden magazine called Casa si Gradina. She really liked the photos of my home on Flickr and wanted to use some in the magazine. I was given not much else in terms of details and I had no idea what photos she selected. WELL, turns out it was a whole bunch of photos…enough to fill TEN PAGES of the magazine! A reader of our blog and fellow blogger Annamaria Chitan graciously offered to send me a copy of the magazine and I received it this afternoon. There is an entire story about me living in my home with 6 cats and what I’ve done to fix up my home on a budget. Some of the photos chosen are not very recent (ie. kitchen without proper dining table) and OMG an entire page of a photo of me, but I ain’t complaining. It’s so cool to see many of my photos in print. 🙂 So here it is:

I stumbled upon South African photographer Justin Patrick’s portfolio recently and was instantly wowed by his talent and the lovely spaces he’s captured on film, particularly the first couple shots below. The bathroom is heavenly.

The interior design firm of Mlinaric, Henry & Zervudachi has been creating spectacular spaces all over the world since the 60s, from private homes in London, villas in the south of France and Greece, chalets in Switzerland to a loft in New York. Whatever style and location, each space has a huge wow factor. I adore their ethnic-designed spaces. Such stunning furnishings and beautiful fabrics such as ikats and suzanis. I could stare at these photos for hours and dream of far away places…

It’s been a long time since we’ve shared the works of New York interior designer Amie Weitzman, so I thought it was time to delve into her world again. It’s all about classic and contemporary style, particularly with furnishings and architecture, with a modern take on it, using bold artwork, colours and patterns. The result is chic and sophisticated.

The children’s rooms Amie has designed are SO stylish and not overly childish (hence long-lasting) that I wanted to make specific mention of them. Really cute!
