A new hiding spot 😼 #munchandfin

This is Puddha, our 22 year old cat. We adopted her when she was 4 years old. She spends most of her time sleeping now and this is one of her favourite spots. She’s a lovely presence
– Ann (New Zealand)

And a few from me off my phone (typically from my instagram stories or my cats’ account). Former feral Frankie sleeping on my vintage settee – one of his favourite spots. Lucky sleeping on his back in our bed. He always sleeps on his back or in a pair of shoes. WEIRDO! And Frankie again, enjoying my spot at the dining table.

An apartment in Stockholm that is not white!

I spotted this Stockholm apartment on the Elle Decoration Sweden website and had to share because it is not painted white!!! The homeowner, Helena Sand, did some work reconfiguring the very small apartment along with coming up with quite a beautiful colour palette. The space is still a bit oddly configured with the kitchen now placed in a hallway, and the former kitchen turned into the bedroom (the bedroom used to be included in the living room), but it’s got the necessities and I wouldn’t want to sleep in my living room either.  I am so in love with the colours she chose – a ‘rose-red’ in the foyer (Whispering Red from Jotun), ‘dirt pink’ in the living room (Light Peach Blossom from Little Greene) and lots of dark grey (Jotun’s Vallmofrö, Picky Living’s 4502-y). Crushing on Darryl Carter

Sharing some eye candy this afternoon from Washington, D.C. based designer Darryl Carter. If you think furnishings on the traditional side aren’t really your thing, think again once you get to the end of this post. Dark pieces and artwork against white/cream walls is dramatic and elegant and gives a modern edge to classic style. YUM!

Passing with flying colours

I have been a fan of Irish architecture and design firm Kingston Lafferty Design for a few years now and they never disappoint. They mix antiques with modern and mid-century classics like no one’s business. And they are bolder with colour than most designers. And do it sooooo well. This post is 100% proof of this.

An unconventional island retreat

Posted on Tue, 26 Jun 2018 by KiM

Now THIS is where I would want to spend my summer. This island retreat by Seattle design firm Hoedemaker Pfeiffer is all kinds of rustic, while adding a bit of whimsy with an unconventional bedroom set-up. This project shows what happens when you focus on your strengths, defy convention, and take a few risks. The demolition of half the house made room for a camp-like setting of grand indoor spaces for gathering with great outdoor spaces for taking the sun and views, or gathering around the fire. Bedrooms were replaced by a collection of wall tents that lose nothing in luxury and gain everything in the connection to the great outdoors.
