Sydney stalking

Posted on Fri, 16 Jul 2010 by midcenturyjo

It has been hard to find houses to real estate stalk lately. The Australian house market has stalled and everyone is waiting with baited breath to see what happens next. It’s not so much real estate stalking but real estate skimming, flicking from page to page and never stopping to stare through the virtual windows. Today’s house is a very sophisticated, inner city pad. I’m imagining a stylish gentleman of a certain age with a successful career perhaps in a creative industry, many friends but no one special in his life or should that be no one person. He is an epicurian, a bon vivant, well travelled and always in demand. His dinner parties are legendary but alas he has so little time to relax these days. OK this is getting freaky. I feel I really am stalking the owner. Back to the house! Enjoy!

James R. Salomon

You can have a New York state of mind, California dreaming and London calling but can you have a New England vibe? James R. Salomon can. This talented photographer imbues his shots with a casual summer beach meets autumnal woods and long grass waving in a sea breeze sort of understanding. It’s family and home, relaxed lifestyle and an every day easy elegance. It’s the buzz of the city and the peace of the country. It’s aspirational but not unobtainable. It’s James’ fabulous photos.

Architectus

Auckland, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney. A body of work from education and public buildings to residential and sustainable design. Architecture, interiors, urban design and planning. A large and prestigious firm. But I’m going to adjust the focus down. Down to the intimate. Down to the individual and down to the home. Love these residential designs from Architectus. They address the site beautifully, embrace the occupants, provide stylish shelter within well considered spaces.

Studio Public

Alistair Graham, creative director of the new, small, yet highly creative interior design company Studio Public in the UK sent us a little taste of his latest project. A seaside getaway for a city couple. Can you imagine soaking in that tub? Not to mention that shower! It’s a fabulous sleek minimal interpretation with a restrained luxury. The perfect getaway within your getaway.

P.S. The photo of the sea scene is an artwork printed to the glass screen dividing the bath and walk in shower!
