Karin Björkquist

Let’s end the week with a fab portfolio by yet another super talented Swedish photographer. What is it about the whole scandi style that has us all purring with pleasure? Is it the relaxed and cosy family orientated homes? The simple and practical approach with lashings of personality to cheer up the dark winter months and celebrate the fleeting summer. Whatever it is Karin Björkquist captures it perfectly whether white and bright, dark and moody, jewel like boho or classic gustavian. Brilliant!

Gentl & Hyers over and over

Posted on Thu, 24 Jun 2010 by midcenturyjo

Is it wrong to love a portfolio so much that you stalk it? This is the second time I have featured work by photographers Gentl & Hyers. Can’t get enough especially when they update their portfolio on their rep’s site (their own is still under construction). It’s the richness, the jewel like tones, the rich almost thick light (you could cut it with a knife). Truth be told I did sneak in my all time favourite. It’s the last one. So lush!

Amy Neunsinger

Love, love, love Amy Neunsinger. Actually I should say love her work :)… and her home 🙂 Maybe I should actually say that I’m incredibly jealous. Not only is she a fabulous photographer but some of these shots are of her own gorgeous home. She captures perfectly the light, airy white on white vibe that is so hot now. Want to walk into these images and make myself right at home.

Paul Ryan-Goff

My mediocre day of coughs and sneezes, tissues and head colds is made instantly brighter just visiting Paul Ryan-Goff’s stellar portfolio. This über talented UK-based photographer almost paints his images with natural light, composition is clever and he knows just how to capture that daydream we all need. A cosy room. a warm fire, favourite objects and serenity, beautiful, beautiful serenity.

Tale of two cities 1 + 2

Posted on Mon, 21 Jun 2010 by midcenturyjo

I’m stalking Melbourne and Sydney. Daydreaming again. (News on my own house search. We signed on a house here in Brisbane only to have it fall over on building and pest… termites… eek! The search goes on again. See what I bought instead on my page.) The first house today is from Prahan in Melbourne. Love the kitchen counter, the ladder and lights. Love the bones of this house, the bathroom vanities and the practical backyard. The second house, after the jump, is in Redfern in Sydney with recycled timbers, a loft bedroom and clever layout for a tiny space. Funky and fun, warm and quirky. The perfect inner city pad. Oh and I decided to add a third house just to even things up in the competition.

And because there were only 4 photos on the listing I thought Melbourne had an unfair advantage so I’ve included this little grey house in Rozelle, Sydney just to even up the contest. What about that tiny tropical backyard!
