Bad girl is back

Yes I’m back from a decadent and too too over indulgent weekend in paradise. Only trouble is I’m short a post for today. I thought I’d tease Kim with these shots of a late spring day which climbed into the 30s (celsius) after a few morning showers. Yes the water really is that blue and yes for some crazy reason I was up at 6.00am for the last shots. Which is more unbelievable? I’ll be back to regular posting tomorrow.

What’s cooking in the 70s?

Perfect timing for a retro kitchen post. Kim has reached the stage with her kitchen renovation where she loves her new kitchen more than she hates her contractor. Today’s retro inspirations are from The Australian Kitchen, by Babette Hayes, Cassell Australia, 1979. I used to feel that kitchens like these dated a modern home but look closely and there are great ideas and a look that is perfect for those who choose not to have the cherrywood and granite dream.

Playing hookie on a Saturday

I’m a bad bad girl. I’ve run away from my computer and set up camp in a luxury apartment on Hastings St, Noosa for the weekend. This holiday town is a couple of hours north of Brisbane and the perfect place for seven co-workers to leave their cares behind, kick off their shoes, take in the view and open several bottles of Australian wine. So I’m not writing a winks this weekend. I’m not doing a reading guide. I’m enjoying the company of my workmates and friends and leaving the stress of my “real” day job behind. To make up for my tardiness I thought I’d share this holiday apartment for sale in Noosa. Just down the road from where I am at the moment. Not quite my style but you can’t fault the location! Ocean, national park and holiday hot spot. If you’re standing where the rocks are in the top picture I’m further down the beach. All I can say is thank goodness for Blogger’s advance publishing option! Cheers!

Squeals of joy from this blogger today. I’m lovin’ the portfolio of New York and Frankfurt based 1100 Architects. So good, so inspiring, so much! If you love functional architecture with lasting beauty, sustainable design and innovative solutions, modern spaces and lashings of light, mid-century design and art, art and more art then do you have a treat in store when you visit 1100 Architects’ website. Too much, too beautiful!

Sara Essex brings a freshness to her photos. They are light, bright and fun. With portfolios of interiors and architecture, still life and food there is so much inspiration. I love how she captures details. A linen curtain with a frayed trim you want to run your fingers through and food to die for.
