What I love about super talented Canadian photographer Donna Griffith’s work is the colour. Bright saturated unabashed colour. That and her understanding of white. OK that’s a colour as well. Love the lighting and the composition. These beautiful spaces are so honest, not tricked up at all. Great photos!

I’m the sort of girl who likes a ristretto coffee, a few squares of dark bitter chocolate and perhaps a palette cleaning 😉 hazelnut liqueur. This has nothing to do with real estate stalking except for the darkest chocolate brown exterior paint on this inner city worker’s cottage in my home town. It’s a brave colour choice in a suburb where cream and brunswick green predominate. The house appears staged for these real estate shots. I’d add another layer or two with personal items and fabulous art, loads of books in those empty shelves and fill those verandas with greenery and cane. Oh and a piece or two more of midcentury classic furniture.

Contemporary as well as modernist, clean, uncluttered and with clever space solutions, Connie Braemer’s body of work has made her one of Canada’s leading interior designers. Love her modern interpretation of the log cabin and that rich chocolate bedroom is sexy. The black kitchen with white sofa? Striking!

Jason Maclean is Maclean Bespoke Interiors, specialising in one off interiors and custom furniture. His passion for vintage furniture is obvious (and I’m envious) but he doesn’t build sterile shrines to midcentury modernism classics. Clean, lean and oh so sophisticated. His collaboration with fashion designers Eley Kishimoto merges surface decoration and furniture form.
