Hare + Klein

The firm of Hare + Klein has been a leader in Australian interior design since the late 80s. Their creativity and experience produce innovative designs of quality highlighted by attention to detail. I’ve included a room from the 80s in these photos and if you manage to pick it I think you’ll agree it was fashion forward and so daring for the time… just like Hare + Klein still are today.

“We create a commissioned piece of art for our clients. Art in which they live or work.” That’s how Wendy Blount describes her designs. Style arbiter and rising star on the Atlanta design scene she brings a fresh perspective to classic and contemporary interiors. Her European background shows in her elegant and relaxed portfolio.

I am in love with ……

…. this furniture! The distressed leather in that rich hue. The shape of the sofa and the nail head detail. The playful fat tufting of the ottoman and that cocktail table. OMG don’t get me started. Where pray tell do these glam meets rock meets Hollywood meets hedonist’s playpen pieces come from? Check out Bradley Hughes. They are Atlanta based and hot, hot hot. Here’s another image Michelle Bradley emailed. Check out the full range here. Seriously lust worthy.

Nosing around in strange closets

Come on admit it. You’re like me. You like to stalk other people’s homes whether on real estate websites or house tours on blogs. Part envy, part curiosity, part “education” but always 100% voyeurism, taking a sneak peek into someone’s home is a guilty pleasure. Tate from Strange Closets has fabulous house tours. Every Thursday he takes us on a snoop through some of Chicago’s most creative and livable homes. Real people with real style…. OK real people with buckets of style and panache. Check them out here. Oh did I mention the interviews with Chicago’s design movers and shakers as well?

Serendipity and a Swalwell encore

I cannot believe that I have found the image above. That’s the vintage clothes rack I saw just last weekend at my “secret” source (see below). It is however a far more beautiful image than my humble snap. We’ve featured the amazingly talented Australian photographer Derek Swalwell before. I just dropped by his site to see if he had updated his images and he has! And they are gorgeous. He’s a man with a truly prodigious talent and an artist’s eye.
