A crazy busy day with tears and tantrums and teeth nashing and then this. Beauty through the lens of photographer Jeroen van der Spek via STILLSTARS.
I’m always fascinated by large additions to modest suburban homes. Don’t get me wrong. By maintaining the facade the streetscape is preserved, the original house is “recycled” and resources are not wasted, the designs are often stylish and provide day to day living solutions but sometimes I feel like the house is turned to a mirror saying “Does my butt look big in this?” Link here while it lasts.
Where else do you set up the offices of an agency specializing in the creation, management and promotion of top fashion brand ecommerce but an old shirt factory? Diana Corp.‘s head offce in the Padua region of Italy mixes vintage with modern, recycled with original pieces. The company’s creative director Margherita Silvestri guided the renovation from abandoned factory to fab office. A creative company in a creative work place.
I knew it was time. I had sweaty palms, a slight headache, a dry mouth. I was hanging out… for my favourite interiors magazine. I knew it was time for the latest edition of Inside Out when an email from Lee Tran Lam, Managing Editor arrived in my inbox. I knew it would be a sneak peek at one of the fabulous homes in the March issue. I just knew it. Here’s what she wrote,
It’s the weekend home of interior designer and stylist Kali Cavanagh – and with a CV like that, it’s unsurprising that it’s a beautiful, well-furnished space. It’s located in Daylesford and has a nice mix of age-worn industrial pieces. She’s also added lots of personal touches – courtesy of her toolbox and DIY-savviness. In the bathroom, there’s a vanity that’s unlike any I’ve ever seen before. “It was a desk,” she says. “I removed the legs, cut down the top and cut a hole for the sink then added one of the desk legs at the front.” She also transformed a set of drawers into another vanity, placing brass French mailbox name plates near the handles. (The stylist is Julia Green and photographer Armelle Habib.)
Aussie readers can pick up their copy of the March Inside Out Thursday. Don’t fret if you aren’t in Australia though because you can read along on Zinio, Google Play and the Apple Newsstand.

I love what a statement that framed flag makes in the bedroom above. Art is such a fun way to bring a graphic element into a space. If you’re looking for tips from interior designers on how to display art in your home, then check out this article.
Love this photograph by Jeroen van der Spek. The soft light that washes in from the window. The wall of not so green greenery through the arch. The rustic table and the old mismatched chairs. The flicker of candle light. A story told through the lens of a camera.
