Weave House

Posted on Fri, 4 Mar 2022 by midcenturyjo

Light filled interiors layered with colour and texture are the key to this renovation. Dark and heavy rooms were transformed into a lively family home, contemporary and charming. The ultimate luxury is the wine room divided from the living space by glass and steel walls. To think it was once a children’s playroom, now an adult’s playroom perhaps. A reimagined classic

Blending old and new will forever be a favourite of mine. That tension is so intriguing, and Fern Santini did just that in this Austin home – complete with huge modern addition. The dining features a vintage zinc top table and very modern chairs, the kitchen island displays vintage lab beakers on original stands, a vintage leather sofa takes pride of place in the study, the guest suite and laundry/office/sewing room maintains their original shiplap ceilings…. it’s such a wonderful mix of past and present.

Studio Kaya

Posted on Wed, 23 Feb 2022 by KiM

It has been a while since I thought about what my favourite colour is. When I came across this home designed by Studio Kaya I quickly realized it is green. Because I love the outdoors so much and have too many plants all over my house I guess this makes total sense. But it’s really the warmth and energy that green in any shade exudes. And this home is so wonderfully serene because of the beautiful shades of green mixed with warm wood and off white.

A renovated 1927 Spanish-style home

Sharing another absolutely stunning project by Electric Bowery. The details in this 1927 home…..WOW! I’m head over heels in love with the courtyard. The objective was to enhance the character of the original home while upgrading the fixtures and finishes and reworking the layout to create a more functional family home for the owner and her three boys. Electric Bowery designed and managed extensive changes to the interior of the home, including a new bifold front door system, completely renovated kitchen, and new custom millwork throughout the home. We reworked the upper floor plan to convert a den off the Master Bedroom into a new Master Bathroom, and fully remodeled two additional bathrooms. The material palette is rich and luxurious with warm walnut millwork, luminous onyx, exquisite mosaic tile work and dramatic quartzite. The final result is a stunning, layered home that reflects the owner’s radiant personality and style. (Photos: Douglas Friedman)
