She defines her style as “chic mix and match”. It’s fresh and fabulous, bright and colourful and in the case of this Normandy home elegant yet quirky, at times formal but always fun. Mainneville residence by Paris-based architectural designer Laura Gonzalez.

The bones may be old but the look is modern. This reworking of a Madrid apartment (with impressive roof terrace reached by the sculptural sweep of a spiral staircase) by interior architect Inés Benavides preserves all the best features of old apartment while ringing in the new. Walls are removed, a modern kitchen is open plan to the living and dining while bright colour and pattern packs a punch.

This Bourgeois home in Montfort-L’Amaury (the Île-de-France region in north-central France) is 4 floors of gorgeous 20th century furnishings and lighting all with a European flair. Very unique, classic and chic. Designed by d.mesure, photos by Didier Delmas.

If the last house was all about restrained colour palettes and minimalist vibes allowing the old house to shine this one is all about colour and pattern in a new build. Think more, more, more and perhaps just a little bit more. Even with so much going on the house is not visually cluttered. A designer’s own home where a tired 1930’s Mediterranean style house was gut renovated to become a calm almost zen like space that eschews the flashy, glossy modern Miami look.
