I love colour and pattern and tend to lean towards maximalism. And then I fall head over heels in love with a home like this and I start to question everything about myself. At this point having a supremely neutral and refined, pared back home like this would make for such a pleasant second dwelling. It sure gives off serene vibes like no other. Reviving a Victorian semi in London

This was full house renovation to restore and bring back to life a Victorian semi detached house in SE London. We designed the kitchen extension sympathetic to the original house and to appear like it was always there. We created a warm and inviting family home, rich with colour, texture, traditional features and clever lighting. Designed by Uns Hobbs, this home is soooo charming! The colours are so pretty and warm, and the deVOL kitchen is an absolute dream (chef’s kiss to that “Refectory Red”). Photos: Boz Gagovski.

Reach out and touch

Texture plays a pivotal role in any interior design and it becomes even more significant in a monochromatic house. In the absence of vibrant colours, texture becomes the driving force that breathes life and depth into the space, elevating it from flat and dull to intriguing and captivating. I just want to reach out and touch the rooms in this house. Yes through the computer screen! Velvets and sheepskin, rough jute and coarsely woven leather, smooth cold metals and stone, the almost waxy worn patina of old wood. Valley Village by Los Angeles JDP Interiors.
