Carefully curated, relaxed yet sophisticated, beautiful and just a little bit fun. Can we talk about those swinging couches? I seriously need those in my life and a view to match. The house is in the Madison Club, a private residential community in La Quinta, California. Exclusive location and gorgeous home.

I started the week by wishing we could run away to a luxury hotel in Thailand. At the end of the week I’m taking us to Morocco, to Mouassine, the oldest and most traditional Marrakech neighbourhood, to the hidden jewel that is Riad Snan13. Light, white, an oasis of calm in the bustling city. All we have to do is decide what room we want. I’m a bit taken by those teapot lights.

I’m not sure which I love more, British Victorians or Brooklyn-style townhomes. Why decide? I can’t have either because these do no exist in any way, shape, or form here in Ottawa but I will continue to share these gems because I can’t be stopped! This townhouse on Delancey Street in Philadelphia has details that make me swoon. Just the foyer alone is a stunner. Designer Ashli Mizell turned this home into something magazine worthy with so much class and personality. The kitchen and main bathroom are to die for!

What’s the common link between offices and bathrooms? None that I know of except that these chic and inspiring rooms are designed by West Hollywood based designer Adam Hunter. The link between them may be tenuous but the design is strong. Think sophisticated use of colour, richly layered with a sense of drama.

The ancient and the contemporary sit harmoniously in this amazing 17th century home in the Italian city of Mantova. Wall frescoes are lovingly preserved in the minimalist rooms, heavy ceiling beams retained as well as the old oak floors, stripped and lightened. All are balanced by smooth plastered walls, translucent blinds against windows, a modern white  staircase rising to the next floor and skylights splicing into dark bathrooms. By Studio Davide Cerini.
