This Palm Beach holiday (the new term is “occasional”) home is no beach shack. Six bedrooms, seven bathrooms and three kitchens were just the start of what was redesigned in this sprawling 80s home. Sydney interior designer Tamsin Johnson has drawn on materials such as stone, timber and rattan with an eclectic mix of vintage and bespoke pieces in blues and neutral hues.

It’s a bright and colourful take on the beach shack without the cliches. Comfortable, uncluttered, and beautiful. Think small footprint with everything for the two of you to live large. After all, it’s the Love Shack by New York and Sarasota based Ellen Hanson Designs.

White on white with natural elements, Mediterranean accents, the blue of the sky and sea, treasures from travels. It all comes together in the coastal holiday home of interior designer Carlos Serra of Mercader de Indias. Light, bright and cool.

Pardon me. I’m having a little daydream. The vaccines have brought Corona under control and we can travel again. I’ve packed my bag and hopped a plane to France. It’s that time of year when the husband and I start planning our winter getaway trip to Mexico. Because I’m not an ignorant idiot, that won’t be happening for the second year in a row. I suppose I’ll have make up for it with as many beautiful homes and outdoor spaces that have SUMMER written all over them.
