It is unfortunate this listing doesn’t have more photos than this but from what few glimpses are available of this incredibly beautiful 17th château in Loudun (a commune in the Vienne department and the region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, western France), I am in love. Pretty sure I would have walked through that front door, seen the limestone staircase and passed right out. Listed via Denniel Immobilier.

A compound for sale in Semur-en-Auxois

Posted on Sun, 27 Nov 2022 by KiM

The sales listing for this home calls it a hôtel particulier but I think compound is more appropriate because it is surrounded by walls creating a courtyard. And I loooooooove homes designed to create that sense of privacy for an outdoor space. And those arching blue doors to greet you as you enter the compound…..OH LA LA!!! This home really does have such incredible bones that I can very much see past the underwhelming décor and imagine all the things I could do with this. (Quick notes: it was built in 1690, is 450 m² with 15 rooms including 6 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, is located in Semur-en-Auxois – a commune of the Côte-d’Or department in eastern France and is for sale via Capifrance for 550 000 €)

A restored 1930s French château in Texas

Posted on Sun, 20 Nov 2022 by KiM

A 1930s neglected French château was restored with the help of Newberry Campa Architects and decorator Kara Childress. This stunning limestone 30,000 sq ft home is about as luxurious as it gets but still maintains some elements of history and has some comfortable spaces that aren’t overly fussy. Modernized château living at its finest. (Photos from Kara’s website and there are more in this AD feature)

A manor and country estate in Latvia for sale

Posted on Sun, 13 Nov 2022 by KiM

The first news about the Ranka manor dates back to 1638. It was a home for a couple of centuries and then became a school and then an infirmary, and then a school again, and a fire broke out in 1986 in one building, then restored, and then another fire in 1990 completely destroyed the building and only the exterior walls remain. It became privately owned in 2003 and much work done since. This estate sits on 20 ha, which includes 3 ponds. For the time being, four outbuildings of the Ranka manor have been renovated – the granary, the stable, the garden house and the New Castle. A barn was converted into a library with 10,000 books, the stable has been turned into a luxurious white hall, the garden house has two family apartments, and the New Castle is dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Bernadette’s Roman Catholic Chapel. There are 46 rooms – including 17 bedrooms and 21 bathrooms. Currently for sale via Realportico for $3.5M USD.
