“Our Coopers Shoot project near Byron Bay was wish fulfilment made real for a young family of four. Our brief was to create spaces that would suit a busy family lifestyle but embrace relaxation, that would work both functionally and beautifully, and that would enhance reflection and embrace entertaining.”

Stylish, open plan living with doors flung open to a verdant landscape in one of Australia’s most beautiful coastal hinterland spots. It’s about connection to place and connections to people. Coopers Shoot by Louise Walsh.

Art House

The clients had a growing art collection. The interior designer had the cool ideas. The result is a liveable, character-filled home celebrating the lives and lifestyles of the owners. Art House by Melbourne-based Chelsea Hing.

P.S. Does anyone else want to lick those pink marshmallow walls?

Whenever I think of a contemporary take on the quintessential English cottage style I think of Laura Stephens‘ designs. Bright and colourful with a deft hand at pattern mixing. I love everything she does especially her kitchens. This kitchen diner at the back of a Victorian Terrace is a celebration of English style in a small package. You can see the rest of the house here.

Take a dive with me into the portfolio of New-York based interior designer Sebastian Zuchowicki. He calls it interior direction and if the several properties I’ve shared are any indication it’s also the right direction. Sophisticated urban living beautifully curated.

Art Déco delicious

A deliciously modern take on an Art Déco apartment by Paris-based Laura Gonzalez. Form, pattern, and colour all modern but all perfectly referencing the age of symmetry, bold outlines, geometric forms, new materials and the repetition of elements. Sophisticated and elegant. Tiger bedroom anyone?
