It’s the week of my favourite designers and Frances Merrill of Reath Design is up there as one of my top 5, and I was excited to see a couple of newly completed projects from her so here is one of them. Such wonderful details in this home and lovely to see them maintained and showcased. Frances’ touches of some dark colours (and some unexpected shades here and there – proving you don’t have to use the same colours throughout for cohesion…how boring!) and some wallpapers add sooo much character. Set on a tree-lined street in Victoria’s southeast, Garden House blends a stately Victorian home with a contemporary glazed addition, creating a serene family sanctuary connected to its gardens. McCluskey Studio embraced understated opulence, using deft planning, a textured material palette and fine detailing. The minimalist, light-filled addition harmonizes with the original home fostering warmth and elegance throughout.

This 1300 sqm Mediterranean-inspired sanctuary blends richness with nature in a stunning barefoot luxury home. Textural elements like plaster walls and the lush greenery surrounding the home create a harmonious atmosphere, enhanced by natural materials and gentle sea breezes. Volumetric bodies and angled lines add interest with a central courtyard mediating between the home’s structure and its surroundings. The Hartley House Project by Alison Lewis Interiors is the designer’s family home in Melbourne’s Inner North. The scope of work involved restoring period features of a Californian Bungalow while adding a modern rear extension. Once dark and monochromatic, the home now boasts light-filled spaces with warm white, wood grain, and natural stone. Soft green, burgundy, and terrazzo accents bring interest, while greenery adds movement to the revitalized bungalow.

At this 10,000 sq. ft townhouse in London’s Belgravia, Banda Studio has masterfully blended history and modernity. Inspired by Chelsea Barracks’ rich heritage, Banda collaborated with global craftspeople to create interiors that marry natural and urban elements. The project combines metalwork, woodwork and textiles to craft a unique and elegant yet practical London home.
