The exterior of this home blew me away, but how San Antonio-based architecture firm Poteet Architecture updated the interior left me speechless. A fantastic example of taking something old, preserving the elements that should be saved and updating the rest for a young family. This isn’t your granny’s house anymore!

The carriage + pool house is as awesome as the main house. LOVE!!!

It’s a play of colours, of shapes, of periods and styles. It’s a play on the senses, an appeal to desires and memories. It’s classic and it’s edgy. It’s theatre set and it’s home. It’s eclectic but not haphazard. No if you look closely it is refined and just so. It’s Château en Île de France by Didier Benderli of Paris-based Kerylos Intérieurs.

More kitchen dreams

Posted on Fri, 6 Apr 2018 by midcenturyjo

Just when I think I have returned to the light the dark side draws me back  and I’m feeling the blues real bad. The good blues that is. Take a look at this stunning kitchen! Rick blue cabinets and tiles, a vintage vibe, brass, brass and more brass and don’t get me started on those windows. I want to pick the whole thing up and plonk it down in my own home. Waking up

Posted on Wed, 4 Apr 2018 by midcenturyjo

Imagine waking up in this gorgeous master bedroom within a Grade-II listed Georgian townhouse in Islington, London. It’s just about perfect. Mid century vibes with modern convenience within a Georgian cocoon. The panelling behind the bed? Bespoke cabinetry hiding wardrobes and storage all a finger push away. No handles to destroy the illusion. But don’t spend all your time in bed. The ensuite bathroom awaits. Think black steel and glass, handmade tiles, brass and once again a touch of mid century in the repurposed vanity. I think I’d be going to bed earlier at night so I could wake up earlier in the morning to enjoy the space. Canonbury Square by Anna Burles.

Raspberry ripple

Posted on Mon, 2 Apr 2018 by midcenturyjo

I love raspberries especially when they are not quite ripe.  All the promise of that distinctive red but just a little tart, fresh not cloyingly sweet. Fresh on the palette and in a colour palette. But this is no one note wonder. Colours switch to deep moody greys through to rich deep blues and warming neutrals. Eclectic yet timeless, luxurious yet comfortable, industrial yet glamourous.
