And so the new year at Desire to Inspire begins and what better way to jump-start your design year than with a jolt of saturated colour. Yes, I know that all the interiors at the moment seem to be white upon white and beige between beige but I am loving this deep blue kitchen by Blakes London. Add in pops of red and all I can say is “oui oui chérie.”

There is some serious drama in this home designed by Ken Fulk and I freaking love it!!!! This 11,500-square-foot San Francisco home was reimagined by Ken Fulk as “one part English manor, and part rock-star lair,” for a couple that is one half British. Located on a strip of Outer Broadway commonly referred to as Billionaire’s Row, the remodel took place over a six-week period while the family was away on holiday. They returned home to find a series of dramatic rooms including a double height portrait hall, a complete English pub, an outdoor cinema and a master suite overlooking views of the Golden Gate bridge and the San Francisco Bay.

This house could not be more invigorating and whimsical. It all starts at the apple green front door. Wallpaper and vibrant upholstery and patterns unite to create a super fun home. Her Latin roots, fondness for Southern hospitality, and penchant for parties were the overarching parameters for this gradual home makeover. The kitchen got a major facelift, but the original cabinets were preserved and a few doors removed to showcase her collection of vintage dinnerware and serving pieces. Paisley wallpaper, watercolor print curtains, and lime-painted entryway are evidence of her passion for mixing happy color and bold pattern. The medley of new and salvaged furniture includes a dining table rescued from an abandoned house, an 80s sidebar, the daughter’s handed-down vintage desk and a super-long velvet banquette that turns the sunroom into a hangout. In the master bedroom, refinished finds cozy up to a custom canopy bed with leather inserts. Designed by Toledo Geller.

Emilie Fournet Interiors used some really moody and dramatic colours in this renovated home in Hackney, London. It’s quite an amazing thing, how paint can really elevate a space and help create a mood.

We very rarely feature exercise rooms on the blog so when I found this gym/relaxation room by Cass + Nico Studio as part of last year’s San Francisco Decorator Showcase I knew I had to share. I’m loving the hand painted walls.
