This 1937 home in West Point, Georgia was designed by architect Henry Toombs and restored and a guest house added by designer David Frazier. I love the classic vibes and antiques mixed with casual earthy elements (ie. a plethora of rugs) and appreciate that he left some original features intact, like the tongue and groove paneling in the primary bedroom. Such a beautiful, timeless home. (Photos: Gieves Anderson)
Inspired by the joyful and eclectic atmosphere of the home in the ‘Paddington’ films we created a vibrant, pattern filled home for design lovers, with an emphasis on practical solutions for family life and interesting design details throughout.
This could not be more perfect for a family with young kids. The colours are so fresh and incredibly fun and have such a wonderful energy. Immediately brings a smile to my face. Also how can you not love a yellow kitchen? Designed by James Arkoulis and Saskia Howard of Howark Design (***update: and as per the comments, also designed by Robert Atherton Design)
Tired of beige on beige? Craving colour, strong, bold and fabulous? This Culver renovation by Sagrada Studio embraced the client’s Indian roots and showcased her collection of art and textiles. Unique and full of personality. Beige? Who needs beige?
The proposed project, a classic North Eastern, shingle and clapboard “Big Chill” house set just about 50 feet from Long Island Sound had beautiful, rambling proportions and great flow. It had been roughly 20 years since they’d last renovated. It was time to refresh and reimagine life at home with classic New England comfort and style. We had 23 rooms in total to redo without interrupting the couple’s seasonal use of their summer retreat. This included light-to-full makeovers of six bathrooms, the complete redecoration of all main living spaces, six bedrooms, the total renovation of the kitchen, butler’s pantry and breakfast room, as well as all conduit spaces and a TV/Rec room with billiard table.
TOM Interior Design Studio (made up of Tommy Smythe, Lindsay Mens Craig, Kate Stuart) created a wonderful blue and white vision of beachy wonderfulness in this home that exudes a classic/traditional vibe that keeps it from being too casual. It is also timeless and I imagine the owners will be quite happy with it another 20 years from now. (Photos: Virginia MacDonald)
The design of this Brook Green terrace, beautifully proportioned and bathed in light, was the result of working collaboratively with a young couple who wanted to create a sophisticated, stylised and colourful home. The Devol kitchen units were repainted, and we sourced a bright pink marble worktop for the island. Our clients’ existing pink artwork was the starting point for the furniture pieces, fabrics and upholstery scheme in the sitting room. In the dressing room we retained the inner wardrobe structures and made new doors – a combination of mirroring and geometric raised panelling transformed the space. In the bathroom, the shower, bath and taps were kept in situ and we fitted the striped floor and wall tiling, designed a bespoke vanity with coloured marble, painted the bath. Purity of colour was an important part of the vision and we worked hard to find the right shades to achieve an interior that feels colourful yet calm and incredibly modern.
Such a pretty, soothing colour palette of pink, yellow, green and blue that has a softness yet fresh energy about it. By London-based Golden Design. (Photos: Tom Carter)
