Stalking on a Saturday

Posted on Sat, 23 Jun 2018 by midcenturyjo

I’m stalking a confection of a house in Sydney’s Watson Bay. A converted 1920’s Masonic Hall that has undergone a “Frenchification”. So many beautiful glimpses at what has been because unfortunately it has been sold for quite some time. A girl can still dream can’t she? Don’t miss the video for so much more. Link here while it lasts and if you are intertested in what it looked like when it sold in 2015 check out here.

Upstate House

When I first laid eyes on this house by MR Architecture + Decor all I wanted to do was pack my bags, hop a plane and move right in. It’s the Hudson, New York home of the firm’s founding partner David Mann. Intimate, simple yet stylish, a window onto how the designer loves to live. Speaking of windows if the front door is locked when I turn up to claim squatter’s rights I might just scamper through one of those multi-paned Federal windows to gain access.

Black and white drama

I love the theatre of a great entrance. It’s all about setting the scene for your visitors. “Welcome. Welcome. Come into my world.” And there’s nothing better than the drama of a black and white palette like this foyer and staircase by design studio Alison Rose New York. Simple yet luxurious, it’s a vibrant mix of black and white, old and new.

A library that’s central to all

Haussmannian architecture, signature furniture pieces and a foyer now converted to a library full of books. Just about ticks all the boxes for my perfect Paris apartment. I think I’ll be moving in to this Alma Marceau residence by Studio CMP.

Southern belle

I don’t think I’ve seen such a lovely entrance hall in ages. The colour, the textures, the mix of old and new, traditional but not at all stuffy, country but not saccharine sweet. If you love these three showhouse rooms by Ashley Gilbreath Interior Design you must see the rest of this Montgomery, Alabama based design firm’s portfolio.
