Jamie Ivey of Richmond, Virginia based interior designers Ivey Design Group has taken a neutral new build (albeit with huge windows taking in the expansive views of woodlands and pond) and created a colourful and welcoming contemporary home. Crisp white walls allow pops of colour to delight and draw you into rooms while layering of textures warms what could have been a cold modern house. Think sophisticated yet family friendly, unique and definitely not boring.

The dark exterior sits firmly in its woodland setting belying the fact that the interiors are bright, light-filled and welcoming. It’s like night and day. A house that hides and rooms that shine. Upper Road by Mill Valley, California based The Workroom.

Opulent, elegant, sophisticated and refined. Not to everyone’s taste but there’s an other-worldy quality to Alidad‘s spaces that provide an escape to the everyday.

Whether you call it a cottage or think it’s just a bit more substantial doesn’t matter. What really matters is the masterful design. A little masculine and oh so stylish I love the layering of texture and textiles. It’s warm and welcoming, chic and classic.
