With an emphasis on deep colors and antiques, Cameron Ruppert Interiors was entrusted with transforming this space into an energetic yet timeless work of art. Adding in architectural components like paneling in the entryway and millwork throughout, CRI added warmth and complexity to every corner. These colours and patterns, whether on the pale/pastel side or bold and saturated, give me LIFE. Photos: Stazy Zarin Goldberg

Character and charm in a 1790s farm

Warmth and charm were infused into this 1790’s farm by clearly defining the personality of every room – yet having small moments of connection to make the home feel complete. We worked with the home’s existing floor plan to maintain the historical character and updated all the finishes, paint colors and furnishings so it’s liveable but not too precious.
This is how you pay homage to the history of a home. With charm and comfort oozing from every corner. Another project designed by Washington based Cameron Ruppert. Photographer: Stacy Zarin Goldberg. (Link here in case you missed my feature last week of a much bolder but equally charming home)

Mid-century colour

“Ledgewood, a compact California modernist home nestled in the Hollywood Hills, was designed in 1961 by Robert Kennard, a pioneering Black architect who fought to open the profession to minorities and women. As with any renovation of a historic property, our challenge was to preserve the form and spirit of the original structure while gently ushering it into the 21st century. We believe the most meaningful way to respect great architecture is to demonstrate its adaptability to the rhythms and rituals of contemporary life.”

Breathing new life into this mid-century gem Studio Shamshiri used colour and natural materials to increase the connection between inside and out. Think verdant greens and earthy browns while leather, wood and handmade tiles add texture and interest.

A designer’s inviting Oxfordshire home

Posted on Fri, 22 Apr 2022 by KiM

This beautiful and inviting house is located in Oxfordshire and is home to interior designer Taline Findlater of Olivine Design and her family. Some of the home dates back to the 17th century, which means there is some really great character inside and out. Add in some really fun colours and patterns (Taline is a trained fabric expert), and the result is a really fun and eye-catching, modernized home. (Photos: Simon Brown)
