One day when things go back to normal and the pandemic of 2020 will only be a memory, we will be able to travel again with no restrictions and visit magical places like Bordeaux, France and perhaps stay at the Yndō Hotel. Late 19th century architecture converges with modern furnishings to bring you a spectacular luxury experience.

Unexpected dashes of colour and unique details can be found throughout hotel Le Cloître in Arles, France. India Mahdavi’s trace is everywhere through an unusual mix of contemporary and rigid furniture made of warm, ancient stone, and hints of cheer and subtle eroticism that flirts with the 70s. She infuses this place with well-being and delight, like she does everywhere else. The Designer India Mahdavi uses a palette of local colors that are both fresh and deep to illuminate Le Cloître and its Épicerie. She shows the greatest respect for the work of memory in this building, which has been sustained by successive types of architecture since the Middle Ages, if only by the choice of raw materials used in the claddings and in the custom-designed furniture, all of which is brought together in an expressive and singular way, giving Le Cloître a unique, magical dimension.

This modest historic cottage with views over Freycinet and the Hazards is the perfect getaway on the rugged coastline on the east coast of Tasmania. As one reviewer put it “This is a place for lovers. Or couples, or old friends, or lovers of nature. But mostly for lovers.” And don’t we all need a little love these days.

“A Mediterranean oasis in tropical paradise.”

Still dreaming of travelling outside of Australia. I think our borders will be closed for quite some time. It’s great to have some sense of security in these trying times but it doesn’t stop my mind wandering to distant lands … or in this case not so distant. Time for a little virtual getaway to Casa Palma in Canggu, Bali. Simple, uncomplicated holiday style.

It’s a holiday where I live. A three day weekend to get away, relax, rewind. The Cape Beach House designed by Uneek Interior Solutions in the Northern New South Wales coastal town of Byron Bay is a stylish bed and breakfast redolent of that laid-back sun, sand and surfing riff. Unfortunately the border between Queensland and New South Wales is closed and although this fab beach house is only a couple of hours away for now I’ll have to daydream of a future stay.
