This Paris apartment’s previous owner had lived here for many decades. It was essentially a time capsule (check out the before photos here) when the new owners came into its possession. Agence Véronique Cotrel understood the importance of trying to maintain as much of the history as possible (bless them for doing “God’s work”) and removed carpet to uncover original hardwood, restored doors, hardware, cornices, windows and bathed the main spaces in shades of white. The result is so much fresher, and open and airy and gives an air of modernity to the otherwise historical space. What a beauty!!! Photos: Amaury Laparra.

Serenity in a white minimal space. Not sure it could be my every day cup of tea but imagine this as a weekend getaway. OH YES. This is the Barcelona apartment of interior designer Isern Serra and object designer and ceramist Valeria Vasi. A white microcement space left very open with lots of built-ins make it the perfect studio space and blank slate to display objects. Simply lovely.

“This project restored the dignity and scale of the interiors of this six storey grade II*-listed west London townhouse, following unsympathetic renovations and a major flood in which water poured through the house for several days from an attic water tank. The spaces on each floor were opened up, the cornices re-cast, and the walls repaired with traditional lathe and plaster with lime render and limewash, giving weight and softness to the spaces. New insertions use rare Breccia verde marble to provide contrast, reflecting the foliage outside to the front and rear of the house. The kitchen occupies the principal entrance floor of the house, and responds to the scale of the space.”

This Grade II*-listed 12th-century former church in Rishangles, Suffolk, was sensitively converted in the 1980s into a wonderful four-bedroom house. The renovation was completed by a local furniture maker who used local timber in a considered way to ensure the house retained its ecclesiastical grandeur, keeping the focus firmly on the original features, such as stained-glass windows, soaring ceilings and exposed wooden beams. Further thoughtful modifications by successive owners mean it is fully equipped for modern living. Nestled in an acre of garden with nearby woodland and fields, the house is secluded yet close to the thriving market towns of Eye and Debenham while readily accessed from London.
I have church conversions on my mind after finding last weeks beauty, and then my husband sent me a real estate listing to one in a nearby town that had me dreaming about buying it, and then I found this one on Inigo. I think I’d prefer one without a graveyard on the property though. Eeeekkkkkk.
