A holiday house in Umbria 2

Posted on Fri, 2 Aug 2019 by midcenturyjo

Like your Umbrian getaway house a little more contemporary, a little less vintage? This stone farmhouse (the owner’s grandparents home) has been sensitively renovated into a modern home without losing any of its charm. Now you are faced with a difficult choice, house 1 or house 2? Perhaps we could do both. San Pellegrino via Special Umbria.

A holiday house in Umbria 1

TGIF! Time to escape on a little Italian holiday. For those of you who found the strict minimalism of Wednesday’s Tuscan stone house just a little too spartan (read boring) then today we’re crossing into Umbria to a large farmhouse that has been divided in very private apartments. I can hear your collective sigh from here. That’s better! Love the vintage meets industrial meets stone farmhouse vibe. Just perfect for a relaxed family or friends getaway. You can book a stay at Mazzo via Special Umbria and you can check out the sister apartment here.

A colourful Kensington family home

Posted on Mon, 29 Jul 2019 by midcenturyjo

The scope of work for this Kensington, London home included the refurbishment of the kitchen and dining room. Think bespoke joinery, installation of interior and exterior crittall windows and the icing on the cake, the decoration. The result is a celebration of colour and pattern, of stylish family living. A light and spacious rear conversion

“The Studio May aesthetic is anchored in a refinement of palette and texture to create a sophisticated, yet warm and inviting environment that is time resilient.”

The brief for this inner Melbourne house was to increase space and volume within a small footprint and with a limited budget. The solution was to open up the back of the Victorian era cottage, creating a clean lined contemporary open plan space, minimalist with an emphasis on quality. Love the light that floods in as well as the vaulted ceiling and exposed beams.

Pattern overload – in a good way!

I am loving the overabundance of pattern in this Los Angeles home that brings in some global and contemporary vibes and makes it so fresh and homey. Moroccan encaustic tiles and textiles from India, Indonesia and Mexico come together in harmony here and add so much life. By Vidal Design Collaborative.
