A big thanks to interior designer Cyrille Maurice for letting us know about this awesome modern industrial kitchen he renovated for a client in Montreal. It had to flow with the rest of the lofty open floor plan and kept sleek and minimal. The refrigerator was hidden, and huge sliding doors hide lots of storage for things like the microwave, cookbooks and a wine fridge. I really dig the detail of the sink with the faucet installed to the left instead of behind it. The butcher block countertop and section of the island add warmth. Gorgeous!!!

Imagine a 3o’s era Tudor style home in Seattle and light and bright are not the first words that spring to mind. This Seattle home redesigned by Amanda Grace Interiors is a modern yet timeless family home, simple yet elegant, refined and relaxed. Oh and full of beautiful light.

It is utterly simple, humble almost, but this scullery in British kitchen designer deVOL‘s Millhouse showroom is the epitome of everyday luxury to me. The luxury of good design, of having the space dedicated to elevation of the domestic humdrum of cleaning up. We may all dream of a butler’s pantry to prep and preen and store but perhaps I wouldn’t hate the dishwashing so much if I had a little scullery of my own (except I’d have a door on every entrance to hide the mess if I didn’t quite get round to the pots and pans).

This Edinburgh flat with its elegant Georgian lines is no shrinking violet. What could have been restrained and dare I say plain is instead alive with colour and pattern. Grey walls anchor the scheme allowing the designer Jessica Buckley to create a space that reflects the owners personality and style. The repeated use of pink and yellow must be so uplifting on a dreary Scottish day. Another great example of traditional with a twist.

An old plaster moulding shop on the ground floor of an early 20th century building in Barcelona was dark and derelict until architectural firm Valentí Albareda created a magical light filled home with central courtyard and a distinct modern flavour inside its rustic exposed brick walls. Love the almost sculptural feel to elements such as the staircase and shelving.
