Merrick’s Guest House

Posted on Mon, 25 Jun 2018 by midcenturyjo

This rustic, timber clad out-house (originally designed by Eckersley Garden Architecture) has undergone a clever transformation into sophisticated guest accommodation on a rural property in Victoria’s Mornington peninsula. A beautiful site, a beautiful vine clad building and now a modern, light filled getaway redesigned by Melbourne-based Studio Esteta.

Green with envy

Straight to the inspiration files. That’s what I thought when I saw this lovely farmhouse kitchen by Jaclyn Peters Design. The unusual grey green cabinets,  vertical shiplap walls, the warm wood accents especially at the end of the island, the wide white oak floorboards and black accents. A fabulous space to prepare meals and for family and friends to gather.

Are you feeling blue?

B-b-b-b-b-blue. Harry Nuriev of Crosby Studios has taken his signature pastels and brass accents and punched them up a notch with a statement royal blue in his own Manhattan apartment. Could you? Would you? Are you feeling blue? I am! Fun, fresh and definitely in your face.

Stalking on a Saturday

Posted on Sat, 9 Jun 2018 by midcenturyjo

I’m stalking one of the best streets in the Sydney suburb of Paddington but I’m not stalking its grand Victorian terrace houses. I’m stalking what at first glance is a small weatherboard cottage squeezed between its much bigger neighbours but appearances can be deceptive. Step through the unpretentious front door and a chic inner city home opens out before you. Just goes to show you definitely can’t judge a book by its cover. Link here while it lasts.

Kitchen goals in a London location home

Posted on Sun, 3 Jun 2018 by KiM

I had to start at the back of this house where the kitchen is located because I am in loooove. My kitchen is about the size of this glorious marble-topped island, so to have all this space plus it fits a sofa and a dining table….*sigh*. I also really love the killer angled tile backsplash and one of my all-time favourite pendants lighting up the island (Lampe Gras). The rest of this location home in London is pretty sweet too.
