French grey

Two floors of French fabulousness in this apartment by Paris design duo RMGB. On the upper level are kitchen, dining and living areas with a mezzanine reached by a ladder, all tucked into the building’s eaves. Downstairs bedroom and bathroom with exposed beams. Minimal, modern lines with custom joinery and beautiful oak floors, all united with the perfect shade of grey.

Black box

It’s like a stage, a theatre set for living. In the centre of this 75m2 apartment in the 6th Arrondissement of Paris sits a black box. Within lies the sleeping chamber of this edgy and moody home. Equally as interesting is the kitchen, laboratory like, waiting for its culinary chemist. Stylish French living by Agence Marie Deroudilhe.

High House

It may only be 5 metres wide but as the architectural firm Dan Gayfer Design explains it’s all about “… a high level of functionality, flexibility, interaction and detail in a house with high ceilings, a high roofline and high levels of natural light.” It’s also high on style. The perfect partnering of spatial design and good looks. What can I say. It really is a High House.

A farmhouse with modern touches

Posted on Wed, 4 May 2016 by KiM

There is nothing like neutral, earthy colours that makes you want to stop, smell the flowers and hug someone. This family-friendly farmhouse in New South Wales, Australia by Cottonwood Interiors is a bit classic American, a bit Scandinavian and just about the coziest home I have seen in a long time. Understated, relaxed yet elegant. Always a winning combination that stands the test of time.

A modern marriage

The facade of this Hawthorn, Melbourne house may be traditional but behind the glossy black door is a sophisticated, contemporary home. The renovation by Austin Design Associates is rich with bespoke details and beautiful finishes. (The joinery is a standout of the property.) A palette of black and white is warmed with golden wood and metal in the open plan kitchen/dining/living areas while a playful dose of greens and yellows is a surprise in the family room. A beautiful home. A perfectly modern marriage of the old and the new.
