Curated maximalism in Madrid

This space in Madrid is so beautifully curated. Layered maximalism, a museum-like quality and an air of elegance make this space really sing. Designed by Ramon Garcia Jurado. (Photos: Montse Garriga)

The Good Room

You know the room, the good one, the one at the front of the house you never use. You’re always out the back in the family room while the good room gathers dust. Not if the good room is styled by Simone Haag. Think 70s funky meets contemporary chic in a room lined with rich Edwardian wood panelling and whimsical wallpaper. It’s vibrant, it’s fun and it’s definitely not a musty, dusty Good Room.

Josh Young Design House

I’ve been following artist & designer Josh Young on Instagram for some time now and realized we haven’t featured him on the blog – until now. Based in Washington, his style is heavily influenced by several years he spent in Milan. It has distinctive European, old world elements mixed with a bit of sophisticated modernity and always very neutral. So very pleasing to the eye.

I am completely smitten with this bold, pattern-happy traditional Spanish finca designed by Matthew Williamson. In 2018 Matthew converted this once derelict house built in 1920 into a luxurious, modern family home with 2 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms, dining and lounge areas. Along with extensive garden and summer room renovations, the home has undergone a radical and stylish transformation.
