“The relationship between the historic building and the new extension is characterised with a change of materiality; from light timbers and translucent glass screens to black terrazzo and steel framed doors to the terrace. The interiors responded to the iconic nature of the building with elegant details that will endure over time.”

Being grown-up doesn’t just mean sophisticated and urbane interiors. The home of your dreams can include a ye-ha cowboy fringe leather ottoman at the end of your bed and a swing in the family room. “Twig & Biscuit” by Nashville-based April Tomlin Interiors.

I follow people on Instagram for several reasons. Two of the main reasons are to find inspiration for this here blog and to find really cool and unique vintage items since scoring anything like that here in Ottawa is rare. Alain of Morceau is one of the latter. He has a little shop in Montreal but mostly sells his scores of mid-century finds via Instagram (perhaps that might change once life returns to normal and shopping becomes easier). Alot of what he posts sells quick so you have to on the lookout and act fast! Still kicking myself for not getting the Grifo lamp by G.H. Tew for Artemide in the 3rd last photo. (I’ll blame it on the pandemic and my inability to cross the Quebec border). And WHOA that Wassily chair in tan leather is HOT! So if you’re into MCM give Alain a follow!

Clean, contemporary lines in a light-filled open plan layout. Think modern living with a touch of luxury. Natural textiles mixed with metals and wood provide the materials palette while restrained colour choices add to the sense of space and draw the eye to lovely views through huge windows.
