I love the energy of this home. Mediterranean exotic edginess that I could definitively get behind. Designed by Janice Barta of Barta Interiors.

Wardington Manor

I think I’ll add stately manors to my castle ensemble for Sundays as they tend to be just as fabulous and a bit easier to find. I spotted Wardington Manor featured on Sköna hem and then found another feature of this glorious home on House & Garden. Located in Oxfordshire on 30 acres of picturesque property, this 15th century manor is an absolute dream. The woodwork, the plasterwork, and that stone flooring in the kitchen….*sigh* (photos: Michael Paul / Living Inside & Andrew Montgomery)

A stellar garden in British Columbia

“This home is equal parts Art as it is home. Every detail was thought through and features a high level of expertise and artistry … We focused on form and complementing textures. Structural evergreens and perennials fade into drifts of grasses that move with surrounding ocean winds. The feature trees echo this textural interest and form; peeling bark maple and white birch.”

In the drama of  life by the beach is this house the star and the garden just the supporting cast? I think we might have to make more room on the theatre marquee because there are two leading ladies in this production and things will only get better with time. An 1800s ranch turns into a funky surf shack

This 1800s ranch home on South Carolina’s Sullivan’s Island was transformed into a funky surf shack by Cortney Bishop. The outside is stunning, and then when you enter it’s all kinds of fun with lots of mushroom board walls and ceilings, black and white checkered marble floors, tropical wallpaper and whimsical artwork. A gothic-revival castle in Ireland

Posted on Sun, 14 Nov 2021 by KiM

I’ve dreamt about living in a castle in France or Italy but it appears I need to add Ireland to my list. This home was built in 1870, has 5 bedrooms, is  5,543 sq.ft. and is listed through Christie’s at just over 10M USD. St George’s is a most impressive towered and gabled red-brick Gothic-Revival house. It was built in the late 1870’s designed by George Coppinger Ashlin, one of the leading Irish architects of the 19th century. The description includes things like brass armatures, encaustic ceramic tiled floor, glazed lead panelled glass, chamfered Tudor archway, pink polished marble columns, open timber balustrade, corner turret, conservatory, butler’s pantry, oratory…
