Alain Brugier

The more photos I come across from Brazil, the more I want to finally visit this gorgeous country. The landscape is breathtaking, and it’s inhabitants seem to be a creative, non-trend-following bunch of really cool people (holla at all our Brazilian followers!). After having a looksie through the portfolio of photographer Alain Brugier, I am putting a trip to Brazil high on my bucket list.

Escala Arquitetura

Carolina Escada and Patricia Landau are the talent behind architecture and interior design firm Escala Arquitetura, based in Rio de Janeiro. Whether their clients are into contemporary, retro or modern design, they’ve got it going on. I must mention that I am head over heels in love with the sofa in the photo above. Classic lines with modern upholstery in my favourite colour.

Design Nehez

Val Nehez and JJ Fox make up the Philadelphia/New York interior design firm Design Nehez. I freaked when I came across their portfolio. One word – WOW! Their spaces are creative, bold, fun and perfectly accessorized. They have a couple projects in particular that caught my eye – a mid-century makeover (with a to-die-for kitchen) featured after the jump and the bright, modern home in the first several photos. AWESOME LIVES HERE! (Check out the bread tab art installation below!)

Paul Bernier

Canadian architect Paul Bernier explores the ideas of distillation and purity in his designs. He questions whether floors need to be solid, walls fixed and how a door opens. This does not make his designs gimmicky though. The simplicity of line and the use of natural materials particularly timber make his homes intimate and personal. I love the slatted floors in both these houses, the amazing overhead shot of planted roof and shady garden below as well as the bathroom with wall slits in the second home. Spaces that are interesting as well as beautiful.

Studio Indigo

Studio Indigo is a multidisciplinary practice based in Chelsea, London where architects, interior designers and property management specialists focus on the refurbishment and extension of residences in central London and abroad. Their projects are all spectacular, from classic and elegant to more modern and edgy. Their attention to detail and quality of workmanship is evident in the homes they have transformed. I adore the blue/grey walls in the first couple of photos – moody and dramatic but not too dark (and I generally don’t even like blue!).
