Delivering the details

Posted on Tue, 9 Mar 2021 by midcenturyjo

“Curiosity and experimentation are two fundamental principles directing the studio’s approach to shape, texture and color, while always unifying spacial constraints to give birth to unique environments.”

Yes it’s true Paris-based interior design firm Batiik Studio are curious and experimental in their approach to the rooms they create but that doesn’t mean their work is slapdash and half baked. It’s the fine details that stand out for me here. The pattern in the concrete floor, the waves in wood and concrete in the bedrooms and the way they meet other surfaces, the lighting, the shelving, the table. I could go on and on. It’s all in the details.

Balancing act

It’s a fine balancing act. Eclectic and exuberant, luxurious and timeless, family-friendly and West Side cool. Get it wrong and the balls will come tumbling down. No chance when your interior designer is Tali Roth. Her masterful reworking of this Chelsea townhouse is textured, layered, bold and bright.

Garden House

“Natural materials, bright light-filled spaces and an openness to the great outdoors will always be a beloved signature of Australian interiors. When conceiving the interiors of the Garden House, we were drawn to the concepts of timelessness, tranquillity and escape. Garden House embodies the client’s combined passions for art, gardens, and colour.”

With the colours and textures of a beloved garden as the starting point interior designers, Arent & Pyke have created a luxurious yet almost monastic set of rooms in this extension that connects the existing house to the garden. Warm and rich yet calm.
