Solid as a rock

“A beautiful home is the result of considering the environment and the project as one, along with the interface between interior design and architecture.”

Perched like a rocky outcrop above the valley this house by Vitale Design with views forever through its walls of glass feels like it should be there, that it is part of the landscape. Monumental and cave like yet open to the surrounding bush with the slide of a wall panel or window.

On the outskirts of the town of Marble Hall in South Africa, bordered by natural bush, this modern family home references the raw, simple beauty of traditional South African farm architecture. With its solid stone and concrete walls, the house turns its back on the public providing protection for the private areas within. Still with all its solidity and mass the spaces within are surprising light and open. House Kleynhans by Pretoria-based Thomas Gouws Architects.

Aqua Di Mykonos

Posted on Sun, 17 Jul 2016 by KiM

Who wants to join me in Mykonos? Dream vacation anyone?! The folks of mykonosestates.com real estate agency sent along photos of Aqua di Mykonos, a luxury villa near Agrari Beach that contains 4 independent structures – a main house, a pool house, a guest house and a kids/staff house. Not to mention the incredible pool and Jacuzzi with views to die for. What I would do to stay here….and Jo could join and we’d finally hang out in person together (about time I’d say, it’s been 10 years). The dream continues…
