This historic family home in San Anselmo, California is giving serious cottage vibes. A bit rustic, a bit traditional, very cozy and neutral and liveable. Shane & Pierce is the recent joint venture of LA based designer Evan Shane Krenzien and Dallas-based developer Pierce Jordan. It seems these two talented guys got together to work on Pierce’s Normandy inspired home he built (designed by architect Juan Carlos deLeon) and it was such a success they decided to work together on more projects. I can see why – this home feels modern but has an old-world flavour to it and a warmth that is so welcoming. That kitchen is giving Tuscan vibes and the morning room is a dream. I adore postmodern design, and I feel like the world could use soooo much more of it. Bold colour choices, geometric patterns, shapely furniture that are often pieces of art themselves….it’s a vibrancy and creativity that really has a wonderful appeal and you can’t help but smile at. Designer Jen Talbot created such a fabulous home here with a more neutral colour palette in the main spaces (the brown and black accents add the pop postmodernism calls for) and then a huge wow factor in the main bedroom and children’s bathroom. Elevated granny chic is what you experience as soon as you walk in the front door of this Philadelphia row house. It’s filled with the homeowner’s family heirlooms and with lots of traditional wallpapers and fabrics it is an incredibly inviting, homey space. We started imagining what this 1908 Craftsman could be at the exact instant Greta Gerwig’s Little Women came out in theaters, and while discussing how both the client and Chloe enjoyed it very much, our client said the words “I want my house to be like that, but on acid”, and we were off to the races. No pattern was off limits, no color too much. A Moorish guest bath? Yes, we decided March sisters would approve. An enormous custom painted Falcon screen? It’s our client’s spirit animal and of course that makes sense.
