We started imagining what this 1908 Craftsman could be at the exact instant Greta Gerwig’s Little Women came out in theaters, and while discussing how both the client and Chloe enjoyed it very much, our client said the words “I want my house to be like that, but on acid”, and we were off to the races. No pattern was off limits, no color too much. A Moorish guest bath? Yes, we decided March sisters would approve. An enormous custom painted Falcon screen? It’s our client’s spirit animal and of course that makes sense.

Nestled in a historic neighborhood, the Allan residence speaks to the enduring appeal of traditional design. Here, we honored the home’s architectural heritage while weaving in layers of refined comfort. The living spaces unfold in a thoughtful rhythm – from a powder room wrapped in hand-blocked wallpaper to a kitchen where honed marble and antiqued brass tell a story of timeless materials. Rich textiles in measured patterns, carefully sourced antiques, and collected pieces work in harmony to create rooms that feel as though they’ve evolved naturally over time.

A second home is a dream of mine – a cottage to be able to do all the design things I wish I could have done in my main house, or the second-runner-up of styles I wished I would have done but caved and went the safe route. This historic coastal cottage in Northport, Maine is definitively giving cottage vibes but also so much vintage charm and such pretty, joyful colours that really make this an awesome place to spend with family and friends. Another must share from Heidi Caillier‘s recently completed projects is this beautiful home in Warwick, NY. There’s something about low ceilings that make a home feel so enveloping and warm. This is a bit more traditional than the last but the architecture definitely calls for that.
