Liveable glamour in a Florida condo

Posted on Tue, 28 Jan 2020 by KiM

This condo in Saint Petersburg, Florida is all about liveable glamour. Lisa Gilmore took this condo up several notches with a really unique backsplash with Kelly Wearstler tile and large brass handles and hood in the kitchen, the dreamiest magenta media room and some dramatic wallpapers in the bathrooms. Gorgeous!!!

A colourful apartment in Spain

As promised, here is another project by designer Marta de la Rica. This apartment is located in Cádiz, Spain and is full of colour, pattern and has a really lived in and summery feel. The outdoor space is gloriously lush. If I found this on Airbnb I’d book it in an instant.

The power of flowers

Posted on Sun, 12 Jan 2020 by KiM

Winter in Canada can be dreary and colourless (the only pretty time is when there’s freshly fallen snow, before it turns to dirty slush) so when I stumbled upon the home of Madrid-based florist Loreto Aycuens I was desperate to share. It’s incredible what some greenery and florals can do to bring some life into a home and make you forget the horrors outside. Via Nuevo Estilo (photos: Pablo Sarabia).

I also took a trip to Loreto’s website and found these delicious images.

The bold live/work space of 2LG Studio

Posted on Tue, 17 Dec 2019 by KiM

The creativity and boldness of South East London design firm 2LG Studio continues to blow my mind. This is a lesson on breaking all the rules, using colour in magical ways and embracing shapes. Each element has been inspired by found objects and prints from within the house as well as our own design travels. Its previous owners clearly had a passion for interiors as it had pink walls throughout, and deep green carpets. In the loft we found a stash of old interior magazines from the 50’s and 60’s as well as remnants of fabrics. As the house evolves with us, it has been through many stages, acting not only as a home, but as a backdrop for our work as designers. So far we have restored the roof and chimneys, the original sash windows and floors. We have completed the pink bathroom, updated the front door, given ourselves a wonder closet for a WC, created an entrance hallway the previous owners would have loved, we hope, and given the lounge added panelling to go with the original coving and ceiling rose, based on pencil markings we found on the walls under the old wallpaper. The open plan kitchen/diner/studio space is the heart of the project and was the inspiration behind many new product designs.

A colourful modern apartment in Moscow

Posted on Fri, 29 Nov 2019 by KiM

Ilya Guliants and Katya Alagich of Moscow-based design firm el Born studio created an exuberant and somewhat whimsical space for a young couple with 2 children. The kitchen/dining floor tile is gorgeous and with the dark teal cabinetry is such a eye-catching combination. Loving the graphic paint treatment on the living room wall, the unique dining room pendant and the bold wallpaper in the bedroom. Lots of fun all around!
