Gutting this Sydney beachside house back to structural columns and beams Madeleine Blanchfield Architects then set about creating, in their words, “a home that was whimsical, calm, inspiring, slightly quirky and deeply personal.” It’s big and bold yet intimate and informal, a luxurious take on the beach living. The more we feature “modern farmhouses” the more I think this is my ideal home. The perfect blend of modern and rustic in a gorgeous country setting so the house is bathed in sunlight all day long with tree branches casting shadows and providing greenery through every window. This one is definitively on the modern side compared to most we have shared here and I do love some rustic elements but that glorious backyard oasis, tile floor in the kitchen and massive master bedroom and ensuite make up for it.
