Liveable spaces by Christie Hausmann

Posted on Tue, 21 Feb 2017 by KiM

Good design doesn’t need to be pretentious nor bankrupt you. These spaces by California designer Christie Hausmann are about durability and practical living, and she loves hunting for treasures at flea markets and thrift shops. Which means you can afford this. And you can put your feet up on the coffee table and no one will yell at you.

Hill Plains Cottage

Posted on Tue, 21 Feb 2017 by KiM

Living off the grid has never been so fabulous… except this isn’t the main house. It’s the guest/pool house to Wolveridge Architects award-winning Hill Plains House in country Victoria. (You can see our previous feature here.) Stylish sustainability in the middle of a wide brown land with a natural, chemical free pool by Natural Swimming Pools. If I was a guest I’d never leave.

Boudoir boho chic by Sera of London

Posted on Mon, 20 Feb 2017 by KiM

We have been featuring the work of decorator and stylist Sera Hersham-Loftus (Sera of London) since this blog began, and we have been a huge fan of Sera’s all of these years. She emailed the other day wondering if we would like to feature her work – LOL – we have, and we will again! (She’s so nice by the way!) She has always had a boudoir boho chic look to her spaces and her originality and quirkiness sets her apart from every single other decorator/designer out there. Here are some recent photos we have not shared here yet, including what may be one my favourite kitchens ever (which happens to have hanging in it one of my favourite light fixtures ever – the Viscontea by Flos). And head over to my page to check our some of Sera’s new line of lamps, cushions and furniture!
(Side note: Monday’s pets on furniture will hopefully return next week. Submission can be sent to kim[at]desiretoinspire[dot]net or hashtag your photos with #dtipetsonfurniture)

Louvers

Posted on Mon, 20 Feb 2017 by midcenturyjo

The garden is a stylish inner city oasis of grasses, climbers and exposed brick. And then you notice that the back gate/wall is made of adjustable louvers. Clever! Parkville garden by Eckersley Garden Architecture.

Still stalking

Posted on Mon, 20 Feb 2017 by midcenturyjo

OK I’ll fess up. I missed this house on my recent forays into local real estate listings until a fellow stalker sent me a link. Am I glad she did! Favourite Sydney suburb Redfern? Tick. Terrace house renovation? Tick. Great art collection? Tick. Cool mix of old and new? Tick. Polished plaster walls that must feel amazing on a stinking hot day? Tick. Link here while it lasts.
