Mangrove & Co.

Posted on Fri, 18 Dec 2015 by KiM

Lulu Moura = Palm Beach meets New England. Nina Litchfield = English Heritage meets Modernism. Together they create casual, eclectic and colourful spaces as British design firm Mangrove & Co.

An email from Matilda Duffercy, Social and Senior Editor of Inside Out magazine popped into my inbox today. She had sent along a few teaser images from the January 2016 issue out Monday. 2016? OMG! Already? Thankfully the pics made up for the shock.

“Our summery cover showcases a home in New Zealand. I wouldn’t mind lounging beside that pool! Styling by LeeAnn Yare. Photography by Larnie Nicholson.”

“Kid’s room (dino boy) We love the adventurous streak in this bedroom. Dreams of walking with dinosaurs can come to life here. Styling by Phoebe McEvoy. Photography by Sam McAdam-Cooper.”

“The bathroom showcases a space we advised a family on one year ago. It was great to see how they used the suggestions our Panel of experts offered. They’ve transformed a dated small bathroom into something sleek and bright. Styling by Jessica Hanson. Photography by Sam McAdam-Cooper.”

“I have included a shot from a super-cool feature called Style Wars, where we’ve weighed up the pros and cons of six key design styles. Of course, I had to include the mid-century modern shot for you, Jo! 🙂 Styling by Heather Nette King. Photography by Mike Baker.”

Oooh not fair. They just leave me wanting more. I’ll just have to wait until the issue hits the newsstands Monday. Don’t fret if you aren’t in Australia though. You can read along on  ZinioGoogle Play,  the Apple Newsstand and Nook.

Beach house beauty

There’s something about a beach house that gets me every time. I don’t think it’s because it’s summer here and I’m craving an escape to sea and sand. No I’d be happy in the dead of winter. I think it’s the way of life. Relaxed, nothing too precious to worry about breaking or ruining with damp swim suits and sand (OK use a dry towel on the couch). A family home, a place for friends to congregate, an oasis from the hubbub of everyday life. In my dreams I have a beach house just like this Hamptons cottage by Jenny Wolf Interiors.

I spot some wicker furniture in this beach cottage, which always works with this style of design. If you’re looking to spruce up your beach themed space wicker furniture is a must. A great source is Wicker Paradise if you’re on the hunt.

My concrete floor and modern architecture obsession continues with this beauty also by Owen Architecture. And I will continue to dream of living in a climate where having sliding panels that open a home to the exterior can be enjoyed more than 3 months out of the year.

Wooloowin house

White, back and grey – there is nothing better. Except when the grey is concrete. Like in this Brisbane home designed by Australian architects Paul Owen and Sam Charles-Ginn. Love all the painted wood planks in the walls and ceiling and the cut outs in the stairs. Now I will be dreaming of concrete floors for the rest of the day (especially after finding claw marks on my newly refinished hardwood floors – anyone want a cat?!?!).
