Paul Raeside update

Posted on Mon, 22 Oct 2018 by KiM

One of my all-time favourite interior photographers Paul Raeside has updated his website – it’s like Christmas! I’ve been a fan for many years and his work is total eye candy. It seems he has shot some of my favourite homes as of late, like that of Sera Hersham-Loftus and my Instagram friend Suszi Saunders. So enjoy some of that eye candy care of Paul.

Have you entered this year’s A’ Design Award and Competition yet? With the September 30 deadline for regular submissions fast approaching why are you waiting? This is the opportunity to submit your work in over 100 categories in the world’s largest design competition. But it is not just an award you’ll be vying for. It is an indicator of quality and perfection in design, recognized worldwide, your design front and centre before design companies and professionals. Entries will be judged by an international jury panel of scholars, professionals and members of the press (you can check out the methodology here) and the benefits to the winners are inspiring. The trophy, of course, an invitation to the gala night, a certificate of quality, inclusion in the prestigious A’ Design Award and Competition exhibition and the yearly ResultBook but even more importantly press, PR, introduction to industry professionals and companies and international exposure.

From the Good Industrial Design Award, to the Good Architecture Design Award. The  Good Product Design Award to the  Good Communication Design Award. The  Good Service Design Award to the Good Fashion Design Award and so many more. So what are you waiting for? It’s time to take on the best of the best in design from around the world. You never know we could be announcing you as one of the winners on April 15. You can register for A’ Design Award and Competition here.

I just had to share one more project from Seattle-based Heidi Caillier Design before I finished for the day. Those tiles, the lovely stone, the brass accents and that little touch of exposed brick beside the wall of custom cupboards. Love.

Tamsin Johnson that is. Sydney based interior designer mixes unique furniture pieces, her own eclectic sense of style and plenty of character, creating spaces that are light filled with a contemporary elegance. You can see more of Tamsin Johnson’s work here, here and here.

Introducing our new look blog!

Posted on Tue, 6 Mar 2018 by midcenturyjo

Hooray! At last we can share what we have been working on these past few months. Welcome to the new Desire to Inspire. The look is cleaner, bolder and we hope a whole lot more user friendly. Here on the home page you’ll find our most recent posts. Click on the one you want to read and off you go. Once you’re in you can navigate with the previous and next post buttons. Need to find a specific date or post? We have our usual archive and category tabs up the top as well as a search bar.

The biggest change is our room category buttons at the bottom of the home page (not those above … that’s just a picture of what to look for). We’re very excited about these. Go on go back to the home page and click on one of them. I know you want to. You’ll be taken to a grid of rooms that you can scroll through easily and when you find one you really, really like just click again and you will find a link to the original post. We’ve been working hard to build up a fabulous library of rooms for you by  sorting through  our archives and this brand new resource will only improve with time as we add more with each new post (and as we continue to process our over 10500 older posts.)  Oh and mobile users will notice a big difference too. So much easier to use.

Once again welcome to the new blog. Take the time to look around and please let us know what you think. Kim and I have spent the last 11 years sharing our all consuming passion for the perfect room with you, our valued readers. Here’s to 11 more!
