Monday’s pets on furniture

Posted on Mon, 7 Apr 2014 by KiM

If you’d like to send me photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow my basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, if the photo is too dark or unfocused then it may not make the cut. Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to kim[at]desiretoinspire[dot]net and PLEASE don’t send closeups of your pet! Thanks!

Dodger is relaxing in a shell chair!
– Maja (Chicago)

This is Bandi our funny dwarf rabbit. He owns the whole flat. It is pretty easy to find him in the snow white interior design. He is looking around from a refurbished retro armchair on the picture. I painted the picture on the wall that I have seen online from my favourite illustrator. I am going to make a lamp from the mannequin soon.
– Edina (Hungary)

This is our 3-year old Boston, Tank, settling in on the back of our couch for an evening of TV with the folks :).
– Donna (Dallas, TX)

Attached is a photo of our cats who have claimed every piece of furniture in our house. Here they are in the living room. “Bear”, our male cat wants nothing to do with the camera so he is on the move from the sofa. “Jessie” our female cat loves her red chair! (umm! do you think we have enough remotes and telephones?!!)
– Dianne (Playa Del Rey, CA)

this is william, our 4 year old westie, having one of his daily snoring breaks…
– darko & stella

This is Misza, russian blue. Once visited Pets on furniture, here in new home, also in Warsaw.
– Joanna

And one from me. Lucky laying on my vintage wooden crate filled with wool blankets in the living room that the cats are supposed to stay away from.

Ariele Alasko

One of the coolest Instagram accounts that I follow is that of Ariele Alasko (@arielealasko). She is a woodworker and furniture builder living in Brooklyn, NY. Her creations, from spalted maple bowls and walnut spoons, to wall panels and headboards, are spectacular. Her attention to detail is impeccable – she even has enough patience to fill walls with eucalyptus leaves! It’s craziness I tell ya. You can check out her work on her website, but it is her home and studio (10 blocks away from each other – sweet!) in particular that I wanted to share with you today. They are beautiful and inspiring, filled with vintage finds and bits from nature but my favourite are her adorable pets – Mr. C the cat and Mazie the pitbull/boxer mix. I had a hard time narrowing down photos of these 2 spaces from her IG stream. So lovely. (Photos with permission from Ariele)

Room 11

Does creative, modern architecture do it for you? Then you came to the right post. 🙂 Room 11 is an Australian architecture firm that designs homes with serious wow factor. I adore this first home – the shape is so fun. Lots of other cool touches below…like the sunken built-in lounge area.

A hot house

Posted on Thu, 3 Apr 2014 by KiM

There are several decor styles that really do it for me, and every so often a glamourous home knocks my socks off. This is one of those occasions. This Georgian home in Notting Hill Gate, London is HOT!!! It belongs to architectural and interior designer Colin Radcliffe and his model wife Angela Dunn. My favourite room is the bedroom with mirror, fur and leopard. There’s nothing sexier than that combo! (Photos via Colin’s website and NZ House & Garden)

HS2 Architecture

I’m now a fan of New York based HS2 Architecture since coming across their website. They have quite a knack at mixing modern architecture with rustic finishes which is always a favourite of mine, and make such great use of outdoor views in their designs. The 4 kitchens below are each very different but all soooooo fantastic.
