Phillip K Erickson

Posted on Thu, 8 Mar 2012 by KiM

A couple of days ago I received a pets on furniture submission from a photographer based in Salt Lake City named Philllip K Erickson. The photos he sent are awesome, and you can check them out in one of Monday’s pet posts, but in the meantime I thought I’d share some of his absolutely fantastic interior photography. He claims “It’s simple. I hold a box up to my eye and decide what to leave in, what to leave out.” If only it were that simple. Well, here is one of the homes he has shot that I absolutely adore. It’s mid-century, modern, slightly kitschy…perfect combination if you ask me.

When a stylist tackles DIY

Posted on Thu, 8 Mar 2012 by midcenturyjo

Kiwi stylist LeeAnn Yare really got her hands dirty at the Signature Prints factory in Sydney when she was lucky enough to be given a lesson in screening her own roll of Florence Broadhurst Horses Stampede in tangerine.  Despite the 40 degree heat in the factory on the day, the result was near perfect, and is now gracing LeeAnn’s sons’ bathroom walls.  A long time fan of FB designs, LeeAnn is a huge fan of anything handmade, and this experience has only made her appreciate the handmade process even more. Check out LeeAnn’s own concept store Collected at BLOC, opening on the 22nd March in Auckland New Zealand, where she will be selling FB wallpaper and fabric, and some one off limited edition surprises.

Photos by Larnie Nicolson Photography. Collected’s website will be live this weekend.

Adelaide Bragg

Posted on Thu, 8 Mar 2012 by midcenturyjo

Melbourne based interior designer Adelaide Bragg has a relaxed traditional aesthetic. Her rooms are all about fabrics and layers, muted colours and scale. Elegant but never chocolate box they are about living an everyday life with something just a little special, something a little refined. Sophistication with families and dogs.

Paul Kariouk

Paul Kariouk is a well-known architect here in Ottawa and I figured it was about time I blog his work (plus, a reader emailed regarding his work – check it out after the jump). His creativity is inspiring and the homes he has designed are stunning works of art.

The kitchen below, located in the Glebe home of Carol Sutherland-Brown & Ted Willis, was submitted to us by their daughter Marisa. She says her parent’s met Paul at a party and after getting him on board to come up with designs for their awkwardly closed off kitchen, they now have the perfect open-plan kitchen that is ideal for entertaining and showing off Ted’s artwork

Pure & General sale

Posted on Wed, 7 Mar 2012 by midcenturyjo

We interrupt our normal schedule for this news update. I just had to post this. I just had to let Sydney-siders know. Well I had to let anyone who is in Sydney in the next couple of weeks know. My favourite store Pure & General is having a sale! Run don’t walk. Manager Cassie promises me there are great deals to be had. My last visit was quite a few months ago now (I posted about it here) but I thought I’d give you another taste of the magic of Pure & General by trotting out my photos again. OK back to normal programming 🙂
