Trading it in for paradise

Posted on Tue, 7 Feb 2012 by midcenturyjo

A land of the alternative, a land of the wealthy, a land of the stylish, a land of community, a land of contradictions. An almost mythical land. The green rolling hills that climb above the white beaches of Australia’s most easterly point. Byron Bay and its hinterland. Paradise. And where better to drink in the nectar of the slightly alternative style gods than bryon view farm home of strangetrader owners Robert Schwamberg and Andrea Duff. Paradise in a weatherboard cottage available to rent. Feel like trading it all in for paradise?

More colour, more light, more curious objects, more beauty, more clever vignettes. More more more from the more than fabulous photographer Keith Scott Morton.

A few quick DIYs

Posted on Fri, 3 Feb 2012 by KiM

I was meandering around one of my favourite Swedish blogs, Annaleena’s HEM, and came across a few simple and awesome DIY projects she’s blogged lately that I had to share.

First, how about writing words on a wall using rope lighting…

Or a simple clothing rack using copper piping and some cable (this one actually comes from Ivania @ Love Aesthetics)

And last but not least, covering a vase with bubble wrap, for something a little unexpected.

The Sanctuary

Cathy sent us an email the other day about a church conversion in her city of Seattle she thought we’d enjoy. She mentioned it has finally come on the market after a long and winding road including the first developer running out of money to finish the job. This former ‘First Church of Christ, Scientist’ is now 12 incredible modern condominiums. The website states: “Enjoy voluminous interiors boasting soaring ceilings up to 30 feet high and generously-scaled floor plans of 1,600 to more than 3,000 square feet of living space. Many homes include rooftop terraces… pricing from the low $500,000s to more than $1 million“. Very cool! Below are 2 of these condos (a basic one and a not-so-basic one).

Rainbow

Beautiful, beautiful Blenko glass in all colours of the rainbow. Beautiful, beautiful photograph by Keith Scott Morton. Just wish the clown would go away. Just saying you know. Coulrophobia. If this was in a magazine I could fold the page just so and make it disappear.
