Studio Gild is a Chicago-based interior design firm co-founded by Melissa Benham, Jennie Bishop and Kristen Ekeland – a trio of women who are insanely talented. I pulled a random assortment of spaces from their portfolio and they all have a few things in common. They are sophisticated, unique, and dramatic. And I love it all!

Behind a high wall in Marrakesh is an oasis of green. Cool, lush, inviting. Designer (and general manager of the beautiful boutique hotel El-Fenn) Willem Smit has created a retreat from the hustle and bustle, the heat and the dust of an ancient city.

Masculine chic is what Anthony George is calling this bedroom, and again I will take his word for it although I think I’d beg to differ. Perhaps it is because of the black and white colour palette. Again, call it whatever you would like, I will still love it for its dark and dramatic vibe. (Photos: Emily Johnston)

It appears I just can’t be stopped when it comes to the designs of GCG Architectes. This is another Paris apartment that has me all hot and bothered. Wonderfully unique use of colour and wallpaper that seems to be their trademark. And those chevron hardwood floors!! Photos: Robin Petillault

I am not exactly sure what is that dude-friendly about these spaces but that is what designer Anthony George is calling it, so ok then. Whatever you want to call it, I’m really loving this colour scheme. Rich colours that work well in summer and winter. (photos: Brittany Ambridge)
