I am STILL on the hunt for hardwood for my house additions/renovations (see this post) and OMG it’s tough when you’re as picky as I am. I was just going through some of my photo stash and came across these photos…dear gawd if this flooring could be mine….

Back in ’07 Jo blogged about photographer William Waldron a couple of times. I thought it was time for a long overdue update of his work as I find his photos completely captivating and almost mysterious, as if there were people enjoying these spaces moments before they were captured on camera.

There is something hypnotic about the work of Dutch stylist Anouk B. Repetition of a minimalist colour palette of black, white, brown and the occasional escape of green. Sparse furnishings always counterbalanced by natural textures. It’s calm. It’s zen like. It’s beautiful in its carefully curated way. Simplicity at its best. Photography by the incomparable Marjon Hoogervorst.

I thought I would take a quick break from my Sunday chores to give a shout out to one of our new advertisers, Relique. It is a really fun shop for those who love anything vintage, industrial and repurposed. Their finds are from estate sales, buildings about to be demolished etc. Gotta love one-of-a-kind items for the home that don’t come from Ikea! To note: They are based in the U.S. but do ship internationally (except for some of their heavier items). Here are a few bits and pieces I found on their site that caught my attention…

I need HELP. I’ve inherited 2 plain plain plain Pottery Barn slip-covered sofas and one gigantic matching armchair and have to make a sitting room out of them. Luckily (?) they are white, slipcovered but so blah that it’s killing all inspiration. I have a set of Suzani pillows (reds) which I’ve added and I have a Kilim upholstered rectangular Ottoman on order. I love all things vintage, and from the Middle East but have no idea how to make the sofas look slicker. The only thing I like are the pillows. I am getting the upholstered ottoman in place of the temporary wicker garden table but please do post this so I can get some inspiration. I need to hear that they’re not too hideous and my dreams of a serene sitting room will come true! Any ideas?
