Something old, something new

I have another Shoot Factory location home in London for you all today. This time it’s a wonderful juxtaposition of old and new. A stone house that looks to be about 200 years old filled with modern and mid century furnishings makes for an funky and eclectic space. Love the floors and retro trailer in the yard.

Tablescapes

Last month I mentioned in this post that Manvi was holding a tablescaping design camp at the Mitchel Gold + Bob Williams showroom in DC. Manvi gave us access to a bunch of photos that were snapped at the event. The results, both for formal and informal gatherings, are really beautiful and inspirational…especially for someone like me who has absolutely no clue how to decorate a table.

Oh I love Armelle Habib‘s photos. Love. Clean and crisp. Bright and fresh. Pretty and precious without being “precious” if you know what I mean.  It is so easy to see her passion in her shots. I’m drawn to her details and how she focuses in on the quiet spot of a room. All may be chaos just out of shot but within her compositions all is calm, all is gentle. (It’s not hard to see why I love the first few shots. They are of Melbourne stylist Heather Nette King‘s gorgeous home. Hey Heather!)

Back in May of last year I blogged the Spanish home of interior designer and artist Javier Requejo. To my delight he emailed the other day with photos of his holiday home in Ourense, 15 minutes outside Galacia, Spain (where his primary residence is). It has the same rustic charm as his other home but this one is filled with even more of Javier’s creativity and colour. And he even has some pets strategically placed in a couple of the following photos which always does it for me.

Pure and General

When I was in Sydney last week there was one place I just had to visit, one store that has been calling me like a siren ever since I heard its name. Pure and General, a wonderland of an emporium in Potts Point. Owner Linda Gregoriou and manager Cassie Karinsky made me feel welcome and shared the stories behind their beautifully curated wares sourced from exotic locales around the world. These women share a passion and it shows. Although I had seen shots of the space as a whole nothing prepared me for the beauty in the detail. Everywhere I looked there was something exquisite, something I soooo wanted. My little point and shoot camera just can’t do this store justice. If you are ever in Sydney this jewel of a shop is a must visit.

Pure and General is at 114 Brougham St, Potts Point, NSW 2010.
