First photographer for 2011. Jonas Gustavsson. Swedish born and New York based and fabulous. What do you think of Anna Sui’s wardrobe (3-7)? If I remember correctly she bought a second apartment in her building and converted it into her closet. The ultimate walk in robe and captured in all its OTTness (not a word I know!) perfectly by Gustavsson. I love the composition and angles of the photos. Somehow the rooms feel so full, bursting with inspiration. There is an intimacy. Like snooping while the owner is out. The holiday season may be finished but I still can’t get enough of Scandinavian cosy winter homes.

Happy New Year! 2010 was a good year for Kim and me. Kim got married. I bought a house. Our blog grew and grew. Yes it was a good year. I think 2011 will be too. I’m never one for resolutions. I last about a week if I am lucky before all my good intentions fly out the window. You too? This year though I resolve to take my time, to slow down, to enjoy. Both of us have full time jobs and the blog is almost becoming one as well. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have the luxury of ditching the day job and blogging full time? A girl can dream. Kim and I are going to take the weekends off for January. We are going to relax, slow down, enjoy. More likely we are going to repair, paint, plan extensions and renovate but we’ll have our weekends to ourselves…. that’s the resolution. Ha! I wonder how long it will take for one of us to break it? Kim is already saying that she might do the occasional favourite blog post. I have quite a few WINK worthy products that have come in over the past few weeks. Drum roll… featured in the latest Belle magazine Scott Weston has sent us the photos of this luxe Sydney apartment. You’ll remember this apartment from my earlier post where Scott took us through the “befores”, his design process and some of the “durings”. It’s a tip of a top hat  towards Art Deco but with a modern quirky twist. (Click here for a reminder.) The finished home has been kept under wraps until its debut in Belle today but Scott has saved a few more photos exclusively for us. (Great shots are by photographer Nick Watt.)

“It’s now complete and the Client has moved in and brought a fantastic tapestry of belongings, artwork and furniture along with all the bespoke joinery we have designed and created the next all important layer… stamping the apartment as their own. It’s just come out in the February March issue of Belle and I thought you would like to see areas that have not been published… the all important main bathroom that really is a beautiful space to be in, the detailed birds eye joinery to master bedroom and the simple but chic kitchen with the lilac interior.”

The apartment is a play on old and new, hidden colour (Scott’s trademark coloured bespoke joinery is evident in drawer linings, subtle but striking), Art Deco meets modern with a stunning art and glass collection and Fornasetti cabinets to die for. My favourite rooms? The quirky, richly hued, tiled bathrooms referencing their deco past tease you. Old or new? Including “during” shots that make you wonder how all this loveliness came to be.
