Modern living in a thatched cottage

Posted on Tue, 12 Nov 2019 by midcenturyjo

Such a well considered balance. All chocolate box thatched cottage on the outside. All modern living expectations on the inside. Icing on the cake? More than enough historical character internally preserved to keep you smiling sweetly. Gloucestershire Cottage by Sarah Delaney Design.

Colours and patterns, and more colours and patterns in this Tulsa, Oklahoma home designed by Mel Bean Interiors. This could not be more bold and unexpected in what appears to be a fairly traditional home. I applaud Mel for bringing on the sass and breaking all the rules with this project.

An update on Hudson Interior Designs

Posted on Thu, 24 Oct 2019 by KiM

It has been quite some time since we last featured the work of Boston-based Hudson Interior Designs. A refreshing mix of patterns, textures and colours, modern melding with traditional. It’s bold and relaxed and timeless. Pure eye candy.

I wanted to share another project (in case you missed Sunday’s post: here) by NICOLEHOLLIS where modern, edgy glam, with lots of black and brass set the stage again. Set within a classical Russian Hill, San Francisco townhouse, the home’s architecture makes it even more striking.

Contemporary meets Art Deco in this subtly luxurious kitchen by Horton & Co. Design. Sensuous curves, tray ceiling with sexy lighting, parquetry floor, marble, gold and an enveloping custom wall mural. In the wrong hands it could be a touch tacky but not here. Here it’s evocative of the luxury of a bygone era but refreshingly up to date.
