A newly built home can be daunting to decorate – that blank slate of white and very neutral finishings. That didn’t stop designer Sarah Vaile from throwing caution to the wind in this Chicago home and painting out several spaces black and using wallpaper and a gorgeous medium dark cyan. Keeping the sleeping and bath spaces white creates a more relaxing vibe and differentiates that zone.

Michelle Kelly is at it again with her penchant for colour and pattern. She has modernized this classic Victorian terrace home and made it family friendly and cozy. The hand-brushed brass kitchen cabinets are fabulous!!!

Many fun colours, patterns and textures make this turn-of-the-century home whimsical, spirited and is a wonderful example of how to add vintage while still keeping it feeling current. A unique take on decor for a family’s seaside holiday retreat by designer Michelle Kelly.

I had to share another home filled with deep, warm colours, texture and patterns that I am absolutely in love with, by the inimitable Heidi Caillier. The deep salmon colour in the living and dining rooms reminds me of my Red Earth (F&B) dining room. I love earthy terracotta/salmon/red colours that are just so yummy! And hello mustard yellow laundry! Heidi never disappoints.

Heidi Caillier continues to be one of my all-time favourite designers. I find myself scrolling through the photos of each of her projects to take in every inch of every space. Her impeccable attention to detail, her use of deep and warm colours (and lots of them), her use of many patterns and textures. Somehow she manages to nail all of this in each project and it is never overwhelming. Quite the opposite in fact. I want to dive right in!
